The various lawsuits against Grace Episcopal Alexandria and the church’s unwillingness to accept responsibility for its conduct tell you everything you need to know about this sad, dysfunctional church.

  • Grace Church is a loving, welcoming, spirit-filled congregation. Bob Malm is a very fine priest and of the highest character.

Priest Bob Malm has repeatedly committed perjury

During my time with Grace Episcopal Church, I faced multiple experiences with bullying and harassment by the rector, Bob Malm. There also were documented instances of the misuse of funds, and ultimately a campaign of shunning in which Bob instructed church staff to exclude us from all aspects of church life. Moreover, the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia has repeatedly stated that these issues are "not of weighty and material importance to the ministry of the church."

    Caveat emptor!

Rector Bob Malm’s recent efforts to falsely accuse me of making terroristic threats against him show how morally bankrupt he and the parish are. I will be protesting on a weekly basis at locations throughout the city.

  • Grace Church has been a wonderful church home to my family for nearly 15 years. The liturgy is beautiful, the music inspiring, the people welcoming and the programming comprehensive. Wonderful youth programs, opportunities to serve, community involvement and great friends keep Grace close to our hearts. The building is a gorgeous place to worship and the clergy are both constant and dynamic leaders.

I am pleased to report that Bob Malm has rescinded his instructions to parish staff and clergy that Mike and I are to be shunned, harassed and excluded from participation in the life of the parish. As a result, I have closed down my blog, which shared details of Bob's antics, as well as related social media accounts. I also will make a good faith effort to have family members and friends who have supported me in this matter do the same.

Bob and I have agreed to a cease-fire, not a reconciliation. That said, if Bob upholds his end of the deal, I certainly will do the same.

Meanwhile, it should be a red flag to all that a former vestry member attempted, on a third-party blog, to disclose details of our giving to the parish in an apparent effort to discredit me in conjunction with this matter. While the details of her post were not accurate, the breach of confidentiality, together with the fact that seemingly this is acceptable behavior within the parish, is deeply troubling.

  • You will be warmly welcomed!

Please note when reading reviews: Elizabeth Digby, Church Mouse, Teufel Hund, Bill Spencer are not real people They are all posts by the same person and are false accounts. He has also used his parents' names (S. Yahner and F. Bonetti) to post. This person is no longer at Grace Church. We have alerted Google and are waiting for these false posts to be taken down.

  • Grace Church is a loving and caring parish. I grew up in a Church that had no parish family. This Church opened there arms to us 27 years ago and I am proud to call this my Church! Everyone in my family have always felt loved and cared for!
